What do you see as an obstacle to creativity in your workplace?
Working in isolation is a significant obstacle to creativity in my
workplace.
While many of the everyday tasks are best handled singularly, the development of organizational programs and strategic goals require the synergy of a team ... to maximize results.
When willing spirits unite for a common purpose, opportunities for creative brain-storming and positive relationship-building abound. Constituent buy-in and involvement is critical to the actual implementation of organizational programs and strategic goals in my current work situation. Thus, the challenge of nurturing solid relationships with key constituents to avoid the pitfalls of working in isolation is one of my ongoing top priorities.
Isolation is often named as a real hurdle for many leaders in today’s climate so I am glad you raised it. What solution brought you the best results for your efforts?
Understanding and implementing the philosophy of “servant leadership”
has led to the successful investment of key constituents in organizational affairs.
Where to from here for you Heather in terms of creativity… leadership … or the courage it takes to develop skills and strengthen teams.
Transcending my current involvement in the business sector, my personal leadership philosophy is to develop strong, relationship-centered teams. I am speaking of teams that are increasingly capable of producing effective results.
Where would a person start to do this, in your opinion, Heather?
If you begin to unlock individual potential and creativity in yourself and others… you have already taken the first step of this process – with courage.
