I'd be curious to hear more from GL over at What Would dad Say about
whether you should go after a second job?
GL said…”Sure, you don’t make enough money. Sorry. If you are tempted to get a second job, re-consider.” I also read last week... that 1 in 4 workers in the UK was recently reported working second jobs.... GL may have a good point here!
Employers who want to keep good full time workers and build a solid base will also be the ones who pay well and offer basic benefits that can keep a family healthy. They’ll also likely ensure that people find opportunities at work to use their talents and develop their skills… as well as move up the promotional steps because of merit and regardless of race… color… gender or beliefs…. That part, I sense GL and I would agree … although many workers claim it’s missing where they work.
The part of GL’s post that is less obvious to me is…”Most of us who get second jobs don’t do either job very well. Is that what you really want?”
I do many jobs and love them all… (Ok ...not quite all…but most) and that’s how the brain works when you activate a full range of intelligences in your career…. What’s been your experience with second jobs?

Ellen, you seem to be a great multitasker and maybe that keeps you from being bored. After all, variety is the spice of life.
But if someone isn't making enough and has to work two jobs, I would almost sense the brain would begin to run on "auto pilot" and lose focus because the person would be tired. Thoughts?
