What is Serotonin and Why Should We Care? (Series - part 1)

Hormones act like a jolt of adrenalin that surge through clefts in yourserotonin 2.jpg brain and they help determine your success or failure at work ... more than most people realize ... You can increase useful hormones such as serotonin which functions as part of a complex network of neurotransmitters that can boost or drain your brainpower.

Serotonin helps regulate moods … sleep … and appetite. With reduced levels of this hormone people face depression… obsessive compulsive disorder… aggressive behaviors… suicide… attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and migraines. Increasingly people have found help with antidepressant drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil which increase serotonin levels and help to prevent common mental disorders.

With a steady flow of serotonin to fire regular synapses in the brain people tend develop
smart skills earlier in life than others…. Modern technologies have affirmed that the adult brain is far more malleable than once thought... and we now have strategies to increase serotonin in natural ways. So regardless of your background or education ... you can boost your serotonin in ways that bring you a better day.

In this serotonin series, I’ll address more of what you can do to help your brain discover new strengths… simply by taking charge of your serotonin levels to reboot your brain for well-being. What do you think?

This is going to be of interest to me because I am taking Effexor at the moment. I eagerly await the rest of the series.

Great Optimism,

Dutch Driver, welcome to the series on serotonin, and thanks for sharing your experience also. It's often best to work with a doctor and especially when drugs are part of the therapy.

Interestingly, I've often noticed the best results come when folks mix these therapies as you seem to be doing... and yet it takes an expert doctor and thoughtful people to make the unique mix work well. The brain is amazing when we give it a chance and help it to help us as you seem to be doing!

Thanks for sharing Dutch Driver. Many of the best therapies I've seen for for serotonin balance good drugs and expert doctor and natural practices such as food choices, and other suggestions made in this series. Is that what you have noticed?

Trying to focus on something and be relaxed is a nightmare without a good tryptophan product. Also, Dr. Jeffery Thompson's Gamma Meditation System is excellent for dealing with ADD. I have been researching on the net for a long time and these two things are very effective. Of course, what works for one may not for another. Another site that has some powerful herb information on treating the mind is herbal-remedy-online.net.
