I was intrigued by Charlie Bess’ post The New Role For Business Intelligence Charlie blogged in the past about “the role of pattern recognition changing in the future.”
I agree with his suggestion that, “Currently, most organizations confine their business intelligence (BI) use to highly skilled analysts. These analysts are expected to have deep industry and process expertise that helps them make sense of what the tool is saying.”
I’d like to add one brain based tactics to Charlie Bess’ excellent suggestion:
If we were to exchange the word training for the term development—we’d prepare people to both learn from and teach one another … business practices that work with rather than against, the human brain.
What would such a shift toward “Business Intelligence,” do to unleash multiple intelligences for a new zest in business performances at your workplace…?

In your use of the word training, is it the people doing the training or the computer training the people about the patterns it recognized. Although the computer may not be able to do root cause analysis, it can point on the anomaly and provide some degree of context, allowing the people to get to the heart of the matter more quickly.
