When was the last time you looked around your office, or the circle where you work and slapped somebody on the back for some specific offering they made. I mean genuinely… no extras thrown in … such as …”I wish you’d do that more often…” Just a rip-snortin’ THANKS… you did a great job of … and then name what exactly was so great. It’s really a matter of looking for something good to name and then naming it to the worker who did it. ![]()
Do you remember when some last told you thanks for a thing you did and meant it? Did it not change your day and encourage you to step out and take new risks for quality. The value of that words of thanks is magnified by the brain in three significant ways:
1. The human brain generates hormones such as serotonin each time people give or receive heart felt appreciation. Serotonin aids your immune system and look for successful people all around you to see it in its highest levels.
2. Your working memory is changed by the words … “Thank You… ” and eventually these two words will make their way over to your basal ganglia, a mental filing cabinet for routines.
3. Once people pick up on your sincerity in appreciating them, new personal and business relationships will emerge … and you will develop even further interpersonal intelligence
Would you agree that two words … THANK YOU … spoken in sincerity can add amazing satisfaction in your workplace and can change your life…? I’ll start by thanking Dr. Robyn McMaster, my senior VP, who just traveled to Ireland

Ellen, after a full day in our brain based business work, I can hear the wires sizzling when I go to bed! What a privilege and pleasure to collaborate with you. I'm very humbled by your tribute!
