At TeachCrunch in an interesting post written by Marshall Kirkpatrick, I found myself re-thinking the ethics of PayPerPost.com offers to sell your soul.
Apparently “Ted Murphy, CEO of advertising firm Mindcomet, has
launched a new service called PayPerPost.com.” It’s a business opportunity for companies to connect with bloggers who get paid to blog kudos about their offerings.
Blogger Jeremiah Owyang offers one suggestion on PayPerPost.com and assures us that though he has grave concerns about this, Ted Murphy is not the devil. My question relates to another issue here….
Is it possible that ethics in our market-driven economy have been compromised by a one-sided approach … followed by flame wars for those who differ?
Would a solution to this problem come from a firmer commitment to engaging more alternative views on topics we blog. That could be done through:
1). Comments welcomed from many people the way Marshall, Jeremiah and Ted do on this topic
2). Ethical discussion that opens the market for further scrutiny as this fine post does
3). New lessons on the kind of tone that engages and learns from all opposing views without attacking those who differ
I am thankful for bloggers like
In Brain Based Business -- it's known as Intrapersonal Intelligence... where problems such as PAYPERPOST make room for better ethical choices! Seems worth a try and this is one way it can work –
