Ever Run to Nature's Intelligence for Your Brain's Benefit?

Get out into nature and you’ll give your brain the rest it requires fromnature as intelligence.jpg work … take time away from responsibilities… even a few days …. Run away from even simple routines you follow… and watch what comes back to you
through your naturalistic intelligence.

Cell phones… TV…and all the stuff and gadgets that pull at your mind during work… can close out the very ideas and insights you’ve been looking for. Do something completely different and watch how refreshed you’ll return to work… with new insights for
solving old problems.

In our fast paced workweek … it’s easy to forget the human brain’s need for nature’s rest and leisure…. It’s a trend and it’s growing…. Did you know, for instance,  that one third of working adults do not always take all of their vacation days, according to a 2006 Expedia.com survey. Do you take time away from all the technology that you use during a work week…?

Start with the recognition that you are not indispensable at work… Then if you still feel you are indispensable … run away for a bit anyway. You’ll be far better off without the stress and exhaustion that comes to any brain without a summer siesta or two. Hey… wait a minute… today is July 4th a holiday… what am I doing at the computer…?

Good question… and it leads to my last point. Refuse to be driven by the national calendar. Sometimes I prefer to work when others crowd the play areas… and then play while others run to work…. It could be the difference between golfing Wednesday afternoon when the birds call back to your hits … or a Saturday morning when the whole city spills onto the links and bottleneck the greens. Now there’s a new rest for a tired brain… golf … every time…. How about you…?
