Do Blogs Bring More Choice to More People?

Over at The Long Tail today … guru Chris Anderson posted a must see video created by Peter Hirshberg of Technorati, and Michel Markman.  It's a powerful video if you think of the responsibility end of things … where people power continues to mushroom beyond media controls. Yet, you are left to wonder… what does it mean in the end? Is the shift from media control to blogs... merely a shift of power … or could this movement become so much more? What do you think?

This excellent video seems to beg another new question: What could the blogosphere do differently to create excellent choices that improve our world. I think that through blogs like
The Long Tail … we could begin to get key answers... and I plan to watch with the rest of you. But I also think we need to keep asking careful questions of ourselves … as blogs continue to grow. Seems to me we could use more of what’s out there to surpass what increasingly blocked our choices in media.

For instance we now know a great deal more about the real capability of the human brain to bring more equity… built better profitability and to hear from as well as interact with more readers.

That video also begs questions about growing more thoughtful relationships with media groups … and we see some hints of that happening through Technorati’s site and others. What a great new era could evolve from freedoms to choose! Thanks for showing us new possibilities. It seems we have only just begun on this journey toward excellence for the democracy of thought and actions! Check out
the video and let us know what do you think?

Hello Ellen:

Blogs have the potential to bring more choice to those who are informed. To make best use of the blogosphere, it seems to me that one has to be very organised and also very discerning. In the latter case, critical thinking will be vital.

The Long Tail is a fascinating book. There is a lot of potential for people who accept the concept and see the potential. By the way, in the comments section of the Long Tail video post, there's a fascinating discussion about Lateral Thinking and the way the brain works. Why not add to the discussion and share your insights with this community ?
