Develop Teams with the Brain in Mind

Teamwork comes easier to those who develop a "servant leadership" groupbrainprojectnotext.jpgaccording to Heather Harris. And I agree. Thanks Heather! At the same time ...  it also takes brain based tactics to handle the challenges, especially when you work with difficult people. How do you develop and use your own intelligence for team synergy?  Here are a few tips I have seen in action lately as part of highly successful teams:

To make the most of teams you are often best served to draw out and show respect for both sides of any issue raised – especially controversial topics.
But how do you draw out both sides without getting attacked from either? That takes interpersonal intelligence and some come to a team with more than others.

The human brain can adapt for the change that keeps strong teams alive… but what happens when one or two in the team
refuse the changes suggested… and complain about pretty much everything the team decides.

Because people differ ... especially on controversial topics that tend to pop up in teams… why not create the right setting to showcase these differences.
Multiple intelligences can offer that setting to teams so that differences become dividends.

Reach beyond your immediate circle … join with others in distant places at times… and be sure to add laughter and play opportunities to a busy week.

Expect the best – because expectation shapes your brain’s reality. When the whole team creates expectations… each member helps to shape the change that comes to that group. This process helps the team to focus on quality outcomes and to adjust or adapt their attitudes, so they can prepare to share a quality vision for the group.

Finally… if you use good tone you’ll likely nurture more communication than you will stir up  misunderstandings in any team… and who needs the latter….  What do you think?
