Intrigued with Heather Harris' leadership model … especially ... how “challenges” transform into “rewards...” I asked her to tell us a bit more….
What creative ideas have you materialized lately … for instance… and what did you learn from these? I know you have led very interesting and unique projects… can you tell us a bit about these? ![]()
Many of my most recent work projects and experiences have presented significant obstacles requiring non-traditional and creative approaches. From re-engineering a national nonprofit organization on the verge of losing its government funding... to revitalizing a Business Association which lacked a clear and compelling vision ... many of the lessons have been analogous.
First and foremost, you have to recognize and embrace change … as a positive force….
That recognition and embrace is critical to survival in today’s turbulent environment …for both the business and social sectors I work in.
Equally important here though … is the development of leadership and structural supports. I am thinking of those supports and structures which embrace ongoing innovation and creativity.
These concrete supports need to be developed as key ingredients and pillars to organizational sustainability… if creative change is to last.
