Recently, Warren Childs, a guest blogger at Brain Based Business suggested that his Father had offered him a lesson in compassion that stuck. That interested me in a wider way because it showed how we build a cognitive map by which to live our lives. Those who see compassion modeled for them… and who see the winning outcomes … already possess mental maps that allow for compassionate behavior. Have you met these people?
I just met a circle of Irish medical professionals ... who base their professional work in deep and meaningful compassion ... which makes me wonder how this circle built mental maps to guide their vision…. So, when I suggested in the conference … that these leaders should "trust their guts… take risks… and enjoy the rewards of their collectively brilliant minds…" I was really speaking to their strong intrapersonal intelligence.
What about the person, though, who builds a personal cognitive map or intrapersonal tactics... for getting ahead at other’s expense? Should we advise people to “trust your gut “ when it comes to visionary leadership? What do you think?
