When we describe helping a dog to sit or a dolphin to jump ... we
speak of their training. But for helping humans…? Isn't there a more thoughtful word that would encourage us to see the extravagance of the human brain more?
I say we exchange the word train for develop. Think of humans… who are motivated to develop the extravagant minds they possess and you see where I am going. What do you think?
An exam will never do to measure the growth when people develop brain based business strategies. That’s why look for evidence of growth in different ways.
We use MITA Renewal Celebrations … which includes an event for participants to teach others something new about the human brain in a related business field:
Invitations sent to 5 to 10 guests - 1 week in advance.
Stations sketched and designed – 1 week in advance
Room reserved and prepared - 1 day in advance.
Room prepared with MITA displays – 1 day in advance.
MITA phases rehearsed with peers – 1 day in advance.
Creative tasks set to engage guests & participants – 1 day in advance
Welcoming plan in place to use as guests arrive
Plan created to guide quests through the celebration
Music and food added to enhance community building
Sign in book to greet guests and record attendanceTo launch our celebration plan… we start with a list similar to the one above… and then participants create the rest to meet their own business interests … so that we prepare an interactive session of ideas to promote good business practices. It’s kind of like a living text that people enjoy and all contribute ideas to. Can you see why the word training is not used here…? To know in brain based settings… is to be able to apply, teach and engage…. What do you think?

Ohhhhh, yessss ... the development of humans is a terrific replacement for "training" and fully enhances the true process, I agree! Thanks for sharing your perspective! I recently found my way to your blog, and I'm finding it rich and insightful reading. Thank you!
