
After you have stayed alert and defined the problem… you’re ready to
collect the facts and use them to redefine your problem … if necessary. And you’ve likely noticed is usually redefined after facts are gather… especially for those who successfully find solutions….
It’s not enough that one or two people, or even a team of people in the same department offer you all the facts. Instead, it’s far better to talk to people outside your firm…. Search the Internet also … to see what’s being published about the problem you face. Look for similar situations in places like Know More Media where business experts lay out problems and suggest excellent solutions.
One manager, for instance, found that his concern about tax increases was shared by several city leaders and in fact he noted several angles he missed published in a newspaper article found in another nearby county rag.
He would not have been able to redefine his problem at a town meeting that week, had he not scoured cyberspace to see what additional facts and figures were available. What do you think …?
