
Feel overwhelmed at work? Anybody else out there notice facts, figures sheer details and that swirl and sweep in and out of your noodle like Katrina hit the busted walls of weakened homes? ![]()
Ok, so maybe it’s just me that skips an’ pops in and out of news that’s coming faster than a house on fire. But in case I’m the only one missing what I want to know and catching too much fog from what I don’t I thought it would be fun to rethink how we go after and nail down what we know.
Researchers know more now about how the brain organizes. I am especially interested in how the mind uses advanced organizers to sort through the debris and make sense of the good stuff. By advanced organizers I mean mental maps such as: ... a to-do list to meet goals for the day... a table of contents to identify parts of your next white paper... an action plan with specific benchmarks to nail and a timeline to follow
Here’s a challenge to help you burn strong but not burn out by too much knowledge broad-siding your brain with flying debris you’ll rarely need on an ordinary day. List five things … no matter how small… that you’d like to accomplish today. Then check off each one you complete… Reward yourself with that extra trip to Starbucks on the way to work next day and your brain will likely pop up another advanced organizer – all for another caffeine buzz…. What do you think…?
