Does your business suffer from rampant employee absenteeism …?
Employees who fail to come to work tend to zap the life out of transportation industries, and other services…. What do you do when absentee employees hurt business…? Do you fight against lost finances or feel forced to pay out more overtime? Consider a few facts that might help you to pause to reorganize so that you replace some sick leave with more well-being at work….
Sickness is definitely up and ... successful firms are fighting back….
In 2004, more than 35 percent of MBTA's approximately 6,000 employees logged in 11 or more days absent and 16 percent were away 26 or more days, The Boston Globe reported on January 21, 2006. Check it out at MBTA - Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
And it is not just the US
That may be well and good but if the goal is to create better well-being for people in business, we have a way to go…. Australians take an average of nine days sick leave each year and public sector employees take more leave than their private counterparts….. Find yourself holding down the fort while others stay home…?

We had a number of clients who can't operate if enough people don't show up to work as raised by your article.
One of the things we developed was a tool called "ATS" to promptly notify an employer if someone isn't going to be there.
This automated notification system records information from an employee's phone call and is converted to electronic information which is immediately made available over the WEB to HR and supervisors so they can plan man power needs. It also keeps employee absence records which are immediately available to designated people to enforce personnel policies. This tool can provide real time manpower planning capability and data about employee absences behavior. http://www.qquest.com/ATS/tabid/62/Default.aspx
