Mike Treder asked in his blog today ... if a computer can ever be as smart as a human... and his answers will fascinate you and show you your brain on a microchip.... Sounds like a future blog here ... thanks to Mike.... I was also interested in a recent story in The Business Online Magazine
where Adam Durchslag told about the early stages of a robot that will think and could become a fully armored military vehicle… Can you feature ramming into a battle in a tank that makes all your decisions for you…? They say it's based on its own thinking … which is based on a robotic program installed to deal with unforeseen circumstances.... What do you think?
The project is called “Reverb”… named to honor Reverb’s project manager Mark Drake, a computer scientist… who … along with Peter Redgrave, a biologist from the University of Sheffield, launched the idea. Redgrave’s studied how animals decide on an action – implanted that program to robots and will test Reverb on a vehicle no bigger than an office bin in about five years….
I was also interested in the fact that US companies spent millions on this Reverb concept, and hope to be the first to make the kind of breakthrough in robotics that could take soldiers out of the firing line. It’s a story to watch … especially if we’re still waging wars then….
