Yesterday’s Chicago Tribune, tells of a stressed doe who attacked three
passersby at Southern Illinois University… “charging them, rearing up, and whacking them with her sharp hooves.” Luckily injuries were only minor—but less minor is the fact that people are actually being attacked by deer!
These deer attacks started last year, and rarely involve more typically aggressive bucks. Experts blame stress from an abundance of deer and people on this heavily wooded campus during the birth of their fawns.
One doctoral student from plans to sue the university for $50,000, for failing to protect her from a deer attack, after she suffered a broken clavicle from the doe hit. Would you run if a deer approached you…?
