Question first and solutions tends to follow faster. Have you noticed how good questions help workers to map their
interior worlds and motivate problem solvers to explore new lands?
Target with a win in mind. Leaders who help their teams identify specific targets will also enable more workers to hit targets with great solutions.
Expect specific traits and propose these specifics as a measuring rod... to identify exactly how each solution will be evaluated…. This serves a dual purpose because the rubric can also be offered as a help to any independent evaluator …. which I find always brings an appreciative nod for the work it measures….
Rubrics or a brief list of criteria expected in the outcomes…. create signposts and light pathways in the brain … so they add clearly marked routes to guide problem solvers toward new destinations.
Move multiple approaches to any destination by encouraging teams to take alternative choices along converging highways. Hold a contest and watch the teams fly toward a smarter solution….
Reflect on where to from here -and see how your brain is hardwired for renewal. Are you?
PBL incorporates Howard Gardner's wider family of intelligences…. It relies on the human brain's optimum potential for success and it brings novel innovations because it draws from up to eight identified intelligences….
