How Sears Car Care Gets it Right

I was glad to read today at Google Adsense that Sears holdings shares are up after 1Q. I like getting my oil changed at the Sears Automotive Shop at Sears.jpgEastview Mall…. For years I’ve heard stories of car shops that sell you parts you don’t need and then fix parts that are not broken…. Not Sears… it’s a real treat to walk into their shop. For the three years I’ve been taking my Toyota there …it’s been that way…. This shop gets me back because of five things they do especially well…

  1. They like people and it shows when you walk in…. Sears team of six guys at the desk seem to enjoy chatting with customers and they like each other…. It shows in their respect and tone …regardless of how busy the shop gets….
  2. They laugh at just about anything … You can always catch a hilarious one-liner or a self-deprecating comment in this shop….
  3. They go the extra mile …. I’ve seen these guys take an older car in for a state sticker when they were ready to close shop… treat elderly with the kind of care you give to family… allow "has been" cars to park in the lot until the next day… and, help people to find budget tires they could afford….
  4. They make contact …when the car is ready these guys call right away… but they give you time to get in to collect it … more on your terms than theirs….
  5. They give you a store credit … which makes you want to shop while you wait for the oil change and lube job. One reason I know I can spend a few bucks in the time it takes them to complete my car care…is because in my many visits to this Sears shop I’ve never been ripped off for extra parts or sales … so I know the price on my car will once again be fair and reasonable.

That’s why I plan to oil and grease my Toyota at Sears Automotive Shop as long as they remain open for business…. This shop gives a shot of serotonin as part of their fine service ... every time I walk in….
