It bothers me when people hear only one side of a story… or when
they tell stories as if only one side could possibly exist….We all do it… and still I am often surprised at how facts are used merely to support old ideas we held … long before we looked at any research…?
That thought came to me today as Bill Belew’s blog drew from several sides of the story on China’s human rights… After a great discussion Online I saw again that when several sides are given … opinions tend to yield to new possibilities … innovations that arise from facts which light up the other sides…
What do you think of this notion … that learning is not a mere defense of opinions … but is a genuine gathering a facts… and an exploration of insights for improved outcomes…. Do you agree…?
Albert Einstein said it this way, “I do not like to state an opinion on a matter unless I know the precise facts.”
What do you think…? Do workers in your circle discuss the facts on both sides of issues – even when people hold strong opinions on one side…?

I really love your point, because innovation and change are close to my heart - and you just described one of the key reasons people and organizations have difficulty with both. They both require learning - keeping an open-mind and viewing the world from multiple perspectives before you take a position (which by the way could change as you continue to explore). Sounds like a great blog topic for me too!!!!
