Deepak Chopra's Not-to-do Blog

Dr. Deepak Chopra wrote an interesting blog  today about three conditions of the mind that impact the state of our health… “Feeling loved, wanted, and useful…. All three are necessary for optimal health,” he said. I was especially interested in Deepak's  list of what the healthiest people don’t do:

"--Diet and worry about their weight obsessively. Deepak Chopra.jpg
--Compare their bodies to a false ideal of beauty
--Exercise obsessively.
--Let depression and anxiety go untreated
--Compulsively worry about food, chemicals, toxins, germ exposure, etc.
--Worry about growing old.
--Visit the doctor all the time.
--Allow dysfunctional or abusive relationships to continue.
--Become dependent on prescription medications."

How'd you fare?

The best-selling author … of more than 40 books,
Dr Chopra shows here his trademark connection between body, mind, spirit, and healing… A real keeper…. I’d have added one more not- to-do based on a survey given to many elderly whose major regret came back as….regret for not taking more risks…

I’d like to read Deepak’s thoughts on "risk and well-being"…. Maybe I’ll stop by his blog again and ask him…

Very interesting list here, Ellen. I'm happy to say I actually look forward to aging - some people fidn that odd, but I'm not worried about "growing old." (Maybe I'll feel differently when I'm 50 or 75 instead of 25, but that's how I feel for now!) Some of these other ideas, I'm sure I could improve on a lot.

Easton, your post refreshes these ideas even more... Thanks...Hey BTW...if I'd had half your brainpower at 25 ...I'd be up for an exciting award now that I'm older.... Still, I learn from your blog daily!

Having said that... I too share your delight in getting older...and also your keen sense of openness to learn more from others and from current research.... It's what makes being at Know More Media fun for me....

Hi Ellen,

I never knew that Deepak Chopra and his kids had a blog!

What he advises here are actions I try to do on a daily basis. There really is no point in worrying because it simply gets you nowhere...and I hardly ever go to the doctor! I simply meditate my illnesses away :)

Maria, I was surprised to run into Deepak's blog too... He seems to enjoy writing ... Have you considered writing a book...?
