Ellen, with me I've found that it invites my emotions to be part of the equation that you mention.

I have found in the area of music and my mind; along with emotions, can create strong images and scenarios, far beyond any other medium that works with me.

Creatively, it has been the most productive times of my life.

Thanks for the application of these ideas for music Gary, and I've seen the depth of your creativity that enters your writing, especially in topics such as http://www.managersrealm.com/2006/04/empathy_the_hidden_greatness.html, but in many of your posts. Some listeners hear or hum words and so cannot play background music that enhances the creativity you speak of....Like you do, I use music to move creativity and so the music is heard and applied at a different level just like you describe here....In fact I can rarely admit to hearing or processing all the words, at those times. Do you find that to be so also?

Definitely. I find, again, that when music plays, there seems to be a communication in pictures and scenes with me rather than words.

Words come later to describe that which I already have seen.

Gary -- you just described how visual intelligence comes alongside and supports linguistic intelligence -- through the intellectual sparks available through music. I'd never thought of it that way but it sure inspires another post at a later date! Thanks for jumping into this one...

Ellen, no suprise, I am with you on this. My experience is that music seems to draw on more senses and emotions. I can't define it, measure it or contain it. I am often inspired by music and its power, motivated by it and moved to be more creative. At KMM there are a few parody lyrics that hang on the wall that came forth from trying to deal with the challenges and frustration of starting a business. It was an effective way for me to deal with some trying situations and to help everyone else find some humor in the adversity.

Hal, you have challenged me because I find myself wanting to investigate and write about how we can measure and contain this vehicle to inspiration. Thanks for stretching our thinking ... cause I plan to pound in a few more brain cells for that aspect of music and the mind.... Already I have an idea cooking... watch for the post... or saga one which I expect to revisit in posts again over time...:-)as I test this stuff out...

Thank you!
