First let me ask if there are any real experts out there....? Better take your bow quick before you read on though….I just learned the definition of EXPERT. Sounds better if you say it out loud but here goes… ![]()
X = the unknown in algebra
Spurt = a drip under pressure
Any experts left out there…..? If so, you’ll be glad to know that whenever we laugh we actually add acumen to our mental mix. Look at how Baldoni shows laughter as a help to leaders. Believe it or not, laughter gets through to nerds like me at online learning sites too....
Simply put, laughter works in your favor because it generates enzymes in the brain and these chemicals trigger an ability for things like learning … much like the way we do here at Know More Media.
Joel Goodman, director of the Humor project, showed in an interview how he mixes laughter with play and he too calls for more.
On the job, I’ve noticed that laughter works best when we laugh first at ourselves. That way others sense our respect, and so more come away with reasons to laugh, in our circles. Online humor is less easy to achieve, but those who laugh at themselves seem to get others laughing too. I especially like Bill Belew’s humor.
There’s a saying that “people who laugh at themselves laugh loudest” and I'd like to add that many of these comedians among us likely live longest! At least, many I know live fuller lives ... and help other to chug along longer too.
My suspicion about longevity and well being are based on the fact that laughter removes stress hormones and adds Serotonin to the brain, another chemical for well-being.
Anything tickling your funny bone today? Care to share ….?

In F2F situations I used to poke fun at others and call it teasing. The older I got, the more I realized it wasn't always, even usually fun for the other to poked at. I now like to make myself the butt of my jokes when I can.
It is better to laugh at myself and know how I feel then to have others get laughed at and not know how they feel.
