How are you smart anyway? You can tell if you've opened spigots to your brainpower by asking yourself ... Am I moving ahead and inspiring others as I want to be?
You've likely noticed that leaders who draw on more intelligences gain more progress than once thought possible in any organization. It makes sense when you think of it.
Reg Stewart, Assistant Quality Improvement Officer at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester put it in the form of an intellectual dare:
You really can become the same person you want others to see in you!
Could Reg’s dare spark new directions for you or a leader you know? You've likely noticed that his idea has little to do with outmoded notions of fixed IQ ... and a great deal to do with newly discovered facts about the human brain as it works ... in the face of challenge.
It's really about mental rebooting to solve problems ... with the brain in mind.
Hit closer to home though, by asking ... How could this mental challenge change any practical part of your day?
In other words, what would you advise another leader to do differently? Then do that very advice yourself and expect great results. Start by rewording the erroneous question ... How smart are you? Instead ask a very different question ... How are you smart?
Simply engage more mental resources that you already possess and hidden or unused intelligences begin to surface. Think of intelligences as tools to improve some part of your day at work, at home and with friends?
Want a fresh look at your own extravagant mix of capabilities? Check out this intelligence survey and then showcase a few stronger intelligences that work best for you.
The key is get more brainpower up and running daily, as great leaders out there already do. Add one new intelligence at a time though, to avoid panic that comes from taking on too much ... too fast.
What would it take for you to use more intelligences to lead yourself and others into progressive ventures ... from your corner of the world?
